Real adventures
are for talking about
around the fire at night

There are many activities to enjoy at Shepherd’s Loch and the surrounding area, including fishing, walking, cycling and wild swimming. It’s possible to set up clay pigeon shooting and archery on request. There are games for kids in the Fishing Hut and lots of outdoors space for swingball, football and rounders, etc. I’m keen for guests to have involvement with the farm should they have an interest, depending on the time of year and what’s going on; for example, calving and lambing, and there are always baby pigs on the go!
This area has a beautiful, varied landscape with a stunning coastline, forests and mountains. It is well situated for the whisky and castle trails and the North East 250 route. The quirky coastal villages of Crovie and Pennan, where the film “Local Hero” was filmed, are close by. The historic Portsoy harbour was the location for Compton Mackenzie’s Whisky Galore's remake and, more recently, Peaky Blinders. For those yearning for a bit of solitude, at the back of Shepherd’s Hill stretches wild moorland where you can walk all day and never meet a soul.
